Specializing in California Property Tax issues, Kent Meyer spent 16+ years working for the County Assessor, supervising appraisals, with his last two years spent representing the Assessor before the Assessment Appeals Board. In 2016, Kent switched sides founding the Assessment Protection Network (APN) to protect residential and commercial property owners from being over-assessed by the Assessor.
As a Property Tax Advocate, Kent represents owners to reverse erroneous reassessments, reduce property values due to declining markets, and reduce base values upon changes in ownership or new construction.
Kent specializes in commercial property, extreme rent control apartments, hotels/motels, agricultural and residential properties ranging from low income to high-end single-family residences.
As a Tax Payer Consultant, Mr. Meyer also works with attorneys, financial specialists and estate planners to avoid unnecessary tax reassessments for their clients. Documents are reviewed before finalizing to ensure no reassessments ensue, to determine if prior reassessments may have been unreported, and to offer California property tax advice. When professionals advise clients on the benefits of using legal entities as shelters from liability and/or for estate planning, Kent also provides a risk analysis from a property tax viewpoint.
